Position Overview

Located in southeastern Wisconsin in close proximity to both Milwaukee and Chicago, Lake Geneva has been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of the top twelve “distinctive tourist destinations” in the US. The City sits on the eastern shore of Geneva Lake in Walworth County and is a regional market center. Lake Geneva’s mission is to preserve its small town atmosphere, reasonable cost of living and high quality of life by carefully controlling land use and development and delivering high quality programs and services. Lake Geneva is a full service community that prides itself on being a great community to live, work, play and learn in. Salary $110-$125K plus benefits, DOQ. Mayor and Eight Council Members (two each serving four districts) elected on a non-partisan basis. S18.19 total annual budget including Sewer and Water Utilities, 88 FT and 163 PT and seasonal employees. Future emphasis on capital improvement planning and execution, sound financial and human resources management and planned growth and development.

Require Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or related field; prefer Master’s Degree with at least 5 years municipal management experience. Residency is encouraged. Desire a strong background in capital improvement planning, budget development and debt financing (including TIF experience); human resources management; tourism development and promotion; organizational leadership skills and the ability to cultivate positive and productive relationships with the mayor, city council, staff and community members. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of integrity; a strong work ethic (commitment to public service); team building abilities in addressing community issues/problems; open and positive communication skills and innovation in service/program delivery.
