Job Announcement:

Waushara County, Wisconsin is looking for a proven and strategic leader to serve as its County Administrator. Waushara County is located in central Wisconsin and is known as the County for all seasons; for all-year-round recreational amenities, including over 100 lakes and substantial public natural amenities, skiing, snowmobiling, canoeing, trout fishing, hunting, biking, hiking and passive recreation in the many parks and natural areas. Its central location in the State, and proximity to major transportation routes provides easy access to major metropolitan areas of Madison, Oshkosh, the Fox Valley and the Stevens Point/Plover area, including STH, 21, 22, 74 and Interstate 39. The County seat is the City of Wautoma (population 2,127), centrally located within the 626 square mile county, with its tag line “Recreation in Every Direction”. Residents of the county enjoy many small communities, with quaint historic downtowns, quiet and safe neighborhoods with a range of housing options, natural and agricultural areas, destination lakes, rivers and streams, outstanding school districts, growing businesses and job opportunities. Starting salary range $110-$130K DOQ plus excellent benefits. The County is fiscally sound, with a $44.3M total annual budget and includes 330 full-time and regular PT employees. Future emphasis on implementing the current building project, recruiting, and retaining a stable County staff, developing of a strategic plan, establishing a proactive economic development and tourism program, building a strong organizational leadership team, and initiating a long-term capital improvement and facility plan.


Require Bachelor’s Degree in public or business administration or related field; prefer Master’s Degree with at least five years of progressively responsible administrative and leadership experience in a County or municipal organization(s). ICMA-CM certification a plus. Consideration of candidates with private sector or military experience will be made if they can demonstrate accomplishments that directly relate to the desired skills. Desire a strong background in budget development/long term-financial and capital improvement planning and execution, economic development/tourism, human resource management, intergovernmental relations, and strategic planning The successful candidate should have a strategic and collaborative leadership style, be an innovator, demonstrate a high level of integrity, exhibit open and positive communication skills, bring a team building approach in addressing community and organizational issues and work harmoniously with elected officials, including those of other governmental entities.
