City Administrator – City of Durand, WI (Population 1,834)

Job Announcement:

Located in the heart of the beautiful Chippewa River Valley of west central Wisconsin, the City of Durand is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional to join our team and become its next City Administrator. This is an exciting career opportunity for our full-service community that serves as the county seat for Pepin County. Durand has very strong municipal finances (S&P AA- Bond Rating) and is poised for growth and community development. Mayor and six Alderpersons elected on a non-partisan basis with a $9.7 million 2024 total budget (all funds including Capital, Utilities and TIF) and 14 FT and 40+PT employees. Durand Fire/EMS serves 10 townships under contract. Hiring salary range $90,000-$110,000 DOQ plus excellent fringe benefit package.

Qualifications:

Prefer Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or a related field with five years of progressively responsible municipal experience. Consideration of candidates with private sector or military experience will be made if they can demonstrate accomplishments that directly relate to skills required. Serves as statutory treasurer; certification a plus. Desire a strong background in budgeting/municipal finance; capital improvement planning and execution; human resources; economic development with a focus on commercial development/redevelopment. Requires a high level of integrity with open and positive communication skills; collaborative style in carrying out governing body policies; a strong work ethic/passion for public service; consensus building ability along with leadership skills and strong commitment to community engagement.
