Grant County, Wisconsin seeks an experienced professional to lead its finance department and provide management and oversight of County finances.  Key duties of the position include developing and coordinating the County’s overall financial management program, including implementing and administering a fund based accounting and financial reporting system. This position exercises supervision over accounting and reporting methods for all Grant County departments, oversees payroll and serves as the County’s auditor pursuant to State law.

The salary range for the position is $103,000 to $108,000 DOQ, plus excellent benefits.  Grant County is fiscally sound with healthy reserves.  A $61.9M expense budget supports a diverse range of programs in areas including law enforcement, highway maintenance, administration of the courts, health and human services, recreational and cultural activities, planning and zoning, education and general administrative services.  The County owns and operates a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. The Finance Director is appointed by the County’s Executive Committee and will report to the County Administrator. The Director serves as staff advisor to the County Administrator as well as to the 17-member County Board and to all departments on financial matters for the County.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or business administration with an emphasis in accounting and four or more years’ experience of professional auditing or accounting.  Experience in governmental auditing or accounting is preferred.  Experience in budget management and systems analysis work is desirable. An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

The successful candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of the principles and theory of accounting and auditing as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standard Board (GASB) standards.  The Finance Director will regularly interact with elected officials and department heads and must be an approachable and collaborative teambuilder who possesses open and positive communication skills.
